2022 marks the second year that the Chronos series has issued a gold version of the coin. The Pressburg Mint is issuing it to collectors in both 1 oz and 1/10 oz weights. The series as a whole is in its eighth year of release, though only its fourth year as a coin series. Prior to 2019, all of the Chronos designs were released as silver rounds. The motto of this collection is PANTA RHEI, which translates to EVERYTHING FLOWS. Through its exquisite designs, the series invites us to reflect on the nature of time and how each of us perceives it in our own lives.
The obverse of 2022 1 oz Tokelau Chronos Coins features an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, this portrait shows the Queen in right-profile relief wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. This crown was a wedding gift from Queen Mary to Elizabeth in 1947. Other design elements include the shifting inner gears of two clocks and a stunning symmetrical pattern. The hallmarks are shown along the coins edges.
