Description

2015 1 oz Proof Mexican Gold Libertad Coin

The Mexican Mint introduced Proof Mexican Gold Libertad Coins in 1983, but the coins were only struck two times prior to 2004: 1983 and 1989. In 2004, the mint introduced the Proof Gold Libertad as a more robust series with 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz coins. All coins were inspired by the 1921 Gold Centenario. Today, 2015 1 oz Proof Mexican Gold Libertad Coins are available now.

Coin Highlights:

  • Comes with a protective plastic capsule!
  • 12th issue of 1 oz Proof Gold Libertad Coins!
  • Final mintage of only 500 coins!
  • Contains 1 Troy oz of .999 pure gold.
  • Obverse features the Mexican coat of arms.
  • Reverse includes the statue of Winged Victory.

The designs originally used on the coins in the Gold Libertad Series were inspired by the 1921 Gold Centenario. Introduced by the Mexican Mint to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Mexico’s independence from Spain, this stunning 50-peso gold coin features the iconic Winged Victory on the obverse, depicted holding a laurel wreath and broken chains, symbolizing Mexico’s freedom. The reverse showcases the Mexican coat of arms with an eagle perched on a cactus devouring a serpent.

2015 1 oz Proof Mexican Gold Libertad Coin

All 2015 1 oz Proof Mexican Gold Libertad Coins are available with protective plastic capsules. These Proof Gold Libertads boast frosted devices and mirrored background fields. The coins had a mintage of 500 in 2015, the highest mintage for the 1 oz Proof Gold Libertad since 2011.

For the obverse design of 2015 Proof Mexican Gold Libertads, the mint features various versions of the Mexican coat of arms. The central design depicts the modern version of the seal with a majestic golden eagle devouring a serpent on the branch of a prickly pear cactus. 10 historic versions of this seal surround the edge of the design field.

In the reverse field of 2015 1 oz Proof Gold Libertad Coins, you will find the statue of Winged Victory. This modernized version of the original Centenario design shows Winged Victory in a three-quarter relief with her right hand hoisting a laurel wreath and her left clutching broken chains.
