Description

1/4 oz Austrian Gold Philharmonic Coin The 1/4 oz Austrian Gold Philharmonic is available from the year of our choice in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. First released in 1989 by the Austrian National Mint, the 1/4 oz Austrian Gold Philharmonic Coin is the third largest piece in the mint’s Philharmonic coin series. Each coin has been minted with 1/4 troy ounce of .9999 pure gold and has a face value of 25 Euros. While we cannot specify the exact years you will receive, each coin is guaranteed to be in brilliant uncirculated condition and will ship encased in either a protective coin sleeve or a sealed tube.

The stunning artwork featured on the Austrian Philharmonic Coin was designed by the Austrian Mint’s chief engraver, Thomas Pesendorfer. Gracing the front of the coin is an instrument that frequent concert goers will recognize as the Pipe Organ that stands in the Golden Hall of Vienna’s Musikverein. From its iconic pipes to the sculpted cherubs mounted to its mantel, Pesendorfer has captured every intricate detail of each architectural element. Appearing in an arched formation above the organ is an inscription, that reads “Republik Osterreich.” Printed directly beneath the organ are the coin’s weight, purity, mintage year and denomination, also in the native German.

On the reverse side of the coin, Pesendorfer depicts several other musical instruments as tribute to the talented musicians of this world-renowned orchestra. Included in this collection are a French horn, a basoon, a harp and a cello flanked by a series of four violins. As with the organ, Pesendorf has taken great care to provide an accurate portrayal of each instrument. Inscribed along the upper edge of the coin is the title “Weiner Philharmoniker,” which is the German translation for “Vienna Philharmonic.”

With its impeccable artwork and its exceptional composition, the 1/4 Austrian Gold Philharmonic Coin is an ideal bullion piece for the musically inclined investor.
